target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Logistics UK<\/a> has said the sector\u2019s importance to the UK economy has been recognised by government, after aviation, maritime and decarbonisation minister Keir Mather MP praised the industry at its annual conference.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"299\" data-end=\"468\">Speaking at the business group\u2019s event at London\u2019s QE2 Conference Centre, Mather said that despite ongoing economic uncertainty, \u201clogistics keeps delivering for the UK\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"656\">He described the sector\u2019s workers as \u201cthe unsung heroes that will keep Britain moving\u201d and said government understood the role logistics plays in driving growth across the wider economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"785\">\u201cThe logistics industry remains the cornerstone of our island nation which keeps goods moving and businesses trading,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"1026\">\u201cThe work of Logistics UK is indispensable to the economy, ensuring that we make decisions in government with our eyes wide open and helping us to focus on the issues that matter the most, whether that be resilience, growth or investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1028\" data-end=\"1104\">Mather said the government heard the voice of Logistics UK \u201cloud and clear\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1106\" data-end=\"1305\">He was joined at the conference by shadow secretary of state for business and trade Andrew Griffith MP and Chris McDonald MP, minister for industry at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1439\">McDonald also highlighted the resilience of the sector, noting that supply chains often go unnoticed when they are functioning well.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1620\">\u201cWhen supply chains work, they don\u2019t make the news, and the government recognises the importance of the sector and the efforts it makes to ensure that the economy works,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1864\">\u201cGlobal instability, including the events in the Middle East, has created huge challenges, but I am really struck by the fact that despite that uncertainty, time and again, logistics continues to deliver for people across the United Kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"2107\">More than 400 executive members registered for Logistics UK\u2019s annual conference, which brings together leaders from across road, rail, water and air, as well as businesses that rely on freight services, including retailers and manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2109\" data-end=\"2301\">Logistics UK chief executive Ben Fletcher said: \u201cLogistics is the engine room of the UK economy, underpinning all other sectors and keeping goods flowing, amid challenging economic conditions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2303\" data-end=\"2421\">\u201cThe sector doesn\u2019t operate in isolation and drives growth across the economy by linking business regions and markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2633\">\u201cContinued partnership between industry and government is key to delivering this growth and having three leading political voices at our Annual Conference is testament to the recognition logistics is receiving.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2635\" data-end=\"2752\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cWe look forward to continuing to engage with government to elevate the perceptions of logistics across all
