{"id":205798,"date":"2026-06-04T11:03:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.retailgazette.co.uk\/?p=205798"},"modified":"2026-06-04T11:03:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:03:18","slug":"seasalt-closes-us-stores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.retailgazette.co.uk\/blog\/2026\/06\/seasalt-closes-us-stores\/","title":{"rendered":"Seasalt axes US stores to focus on wholesale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cornish fashion retailer Seasalt has shut all four of its standalone shops in the US after two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seasaltcornwall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> brand<\/a> said that the closures were a strategic decision as its wholesale operations and retail partnerships continued to go \u201cfrom strength to strength\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seasalt launched its first US shop in September 2024 and had grown its footprint in the region to four sites by early 2026. However, the business confirmed that the four stores had shut by 17 May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retailgazette.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/seasalt\/\">company<\/a> is now seeking to commit more resources to bolstering its third-party relationships across the US and Europe, including 400;\">Seasalt noted that its international revenues currently made up 16 per cent of its total sales and formed a \u201csignificant growth opportunity\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A spokesperson for the brand said: \u201cWe plan to grow our portfolio of partners in the US and Europe in the second half of this year, and we are investing accordingly in this area of the business.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The business is aiming to see its international revenues surpass 20 per cent over the next year by refocusing on its third-party relationships.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seasalt said it had taken \u201csignificant learnings\u201d from its international trading to date and was \u201capproaching the next year and beyond with confidence despite the ongoing economic headwinds\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><a
